Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin was quoted as saying that “I don’t have any regrets,” Philbin said Sunday night from his Davie, Fla., office, which America was invited into this summer. “I’m not sitting in my office and saying, ‘Geez, why did we do that?’ And if we win 15 games, it’s not gonna be because they were here, just like if we lose 13 games, it won’t be because they were here. It was a good experience, we met a lot of good people. That’s really it.” With the Dolphins on course for what looks like a losing season, one has to wonder if Philbin truly stands by that statement. Tonight marks the end of the eighth season of HBO’s Hard Knocks and it’s been an intriguing ride to say the least. To put a bow on all matters that have come about over the last few weeks, Chad Johnson is scheduled for his first interview since his arrest on domestic violence charges three weeks ago. Should be interesting … Continue reading
*UPDATE*: Turns out Chad actually IS in the game – he had no idea developers changed his name back to Johnson.
In case you needed an update on the status Chad Johnson, here it is – he’s home lamenting the fact that his recent release by the Miami Dolphins resulted in him being erased from Madden NFL ’13 …
One of the ongoing storylines of this year’s version of Hard Knocks and the preseason is the lack of a pass catching threat within the Miami Dolphins receiving corps. Chad Johnson was brought in to help shore up the position, but he’s no longer with the club. The Dolphins opened the 2012 offseason by trading Pro Bowl wide out Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears for two third round draft picks. Marshall was moved due to his checkered legal history and the team saw moving him as a way to give new head coach a fresh start free of any drama. Marshall averaged 84 receptions, 1,114 yards and 5 touchdowns during his two years in Miami. Obviously, his skills could be of some use to the Dolphins. But Philbin has his eyes toward the future and doesn’t look back on the deal with regrets. Continue reading
A lot has gone down in Miami since last Tuesday. David Garrard’s preseason was interrupted by arthroscopic knee surgery. Ryan Tannehill made a his professional debut and became the front runner for the Dolphins’ starting QB job. However, all anyone really wants to talk about is the former Dolphin – Chad Johnson. I paid little mind to Ochocinco when he promised a Dolphins front office member that he’d get arrested on his day off during last week’s episode. Obviously, the man was joking, but his words turned out to be more prophetic than he could have ever imagined. Word has it that tonight’s episode will include footage of Joe Philbin addressing Chad face to face and before dismissing him from the team. Moments like that is what Reality TV was made for … Continue reading
Following a few days of turmoil that included an arrest on domestic violence charges, the termination of his contract with the Miami Dolphins, and his wife filing for divorce, Chad Johnson finally broke his silence today, releasing the following statement via his website OCNN:
I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.

The man with a habit of promising but not delivering ass whippings finally has followed through.
Through all of the trouble Chad Johnson has caused in his career, he always had been able to say that he never had gotten into any trouble off the field. And apart from the rare lawsuit for, for example, promising to give away a car but failing to do so, Chad never had been arrested.
… in order to salvage any credibility with the women they hope will want to come to their games (and/or with the females who own a piece of the franchise, like Venus and Serena Williams, Gloria Estefan, and Fergie), the Dolphins need to sever ties with Johnson — if after conducting a swift and thorough investigation the team concludes that Johnson did indeed commit violence against the woman he married barely a month ago.
