Up until this season, the Green Bay Packers could always count on their defensive backs winning the physical battle against Chicago Bears wide receivers. With the acquisition of the 6’4”, 235lbs Brandon Marshall and 6’3”, 220lbs rookie Alshon Jeffery, Bears QB Jay Cutler is looking forward to the Packers relying heavily on bump and run coverage. From CSNChicago:
Quarterback Jay Cutler has played six games as a Bear against the Green Bay Packers. He has seen how the Packers get physical with Bears receivers, jamming them and matching up in man-to-man coverage to let more defenders attack the quarterback.
If the Packers want to try that against this current group of Bears receivers?
“Good luck,” Cutler said.
“We invite press coverage. We invite man.”
