Skip Bayless: “I’m for the black guy”

Skip Bayless gets paid millions of dollars by the big wigs at ESPN to say the most asinine things and pass it off as “journalism”.  It’s been easy for me to ignore the comments that escape his mouth.  But every once in a while, it becomes necessary to shine a little bit of light on just how ridiculous he can be at times.  Robert Griffin III threw for 49 yards on 5 of 8 completions and was sacked 3 times during his one half of play in the Redskins preseason loss to the Chicago Bears this past weekend.  Backup QB and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins completed 18 of 23 pass attempts for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Ignoring the fact that Griffin played against a Bears defensive line out for blood, while Cousins did his damage against a bunch of folks who may not even make the Bears’ final roster, Bayless decides to nip this potential QB controversy in the bud with some rather peculiar comments.From Yahoo!Sports’ Shutdown Corner:

“Some foolish Redskins fans — fans, foolish, doesn’t that go together, right? — they’re gonna sit back and say, ‘God, RGIII was struggling. He fumbled, he threw a couple of bad passes. Maybe Kirk Cousins is better right now. Maybe we should go with Kirk.’ NO! I don’t want to see that. I don’t want to set up that dynamic.

“I’m going to throw it out there,” Bayless continued. “You also have the black/white dynamic and the majority of Redskins fans are white and it’s just human nature if you’re white to root for the white guy. It just happens in sports. Just like the black community will root for the black quarterback.

“I’m for the black guy. I’m just saying I don’t like the dynamic for RGIII. It could stunt his growth in the NFL.”

Incredible.  In what may be a historical first (and a watershed moment for the Civil Rights Movement), Skip (needlessly) plays the Race Card on behalf of RGIII, saying that Cousins’ success this past Saturday night will lead to (white) Redskins fans calling for him to be replaced by their White Knight.

Yeah.  This is just … umm.  I don’t even know what to say about it.  One could go on and on about the glaring jumps in logic there, but what’s the point?  Seriously, Bayless is a Master Troll who seemingly takes great joy in expressing his idiotic opinions on the hottest sports topics.  Arguing against what he spits out serves no purpose other than to keep this walking sh!tstain as a topic of discussion.  Shutdown Corner‘s Doug Farrar hit the nail on the head in the conclusion of his piece on Bayless’ rant:

But to whatever degree Bayless’ comments will open and foster racial divide and complicate a situation that previously had no complications, ESPN should be profoundly ashamed that Bayless is still on the company’s payroll.

Of course, if ESPN understood the concept of shame, it would have pulled the plug on Bayless years ago.
