From NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington:

Police said a “heated argument” started when Johnson found a receipt for condoms in the car.

Johnson told police that he and his wife accidentally knocked heads.

Johnson remains in custody and won’t be eligible for release until a bail hearing is set, which could be as late as Monday, Engle said.

Far from a stranger to controversial situations, this is Johnson’s first arrest.

… in order to salvage any credibility with the women they hope will want to come to their games (and/or with the females who own a piece of the franchise, like Venus and Serena Williams, Gloria Estefan, and Fergie), the Dolphins need to sever ties with Johnson — if after conducting a swift and thorough investigation the team concludes that Johnson did indeed commit violence against the woman he married barely a month ago.

Here’s the statement released by the Dolphins, courtesy of PFT: “We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering all the relevant information,” team spokesman Harvey Greene told PFT via email.
