Following his arrest on domestic violence charges Saturday evening, the Miami Dolphins have released Chad Johnson. Hard Knocks will be a must see event this Tuesday night.

*UPDATE* – Apparently, Chad Johnson head butted his wife, Evelyn Lazada.
Johnson allegedly head-butted his new wife, Evelyn Lazada, during an argument.
When cops came on the scene Lazado, a star in VH1’s Basketball Wive’s Reality series, had lacerations on her forehead, and Johnson was arrested.Since entering the NFL in 2001 Johnson, a Miami native who lives in Davie, had never been arrested. But he was arrested in college for a domestic dispute.

Police said a “heated argument” started when Johnson found a receipt for condoms in the car.
Johnson told police that he and his wife accidentally knocked heads.
Johnson remains in custody and won’t be eligible for release until a bail hearing is set, which could be as late as Monday, Engle said.
Far from a stranger to controversial situations, this is Johnson’s first arrest.

Through all of the trouble Chad Johnson has caused in his career, he always had been able to say that he never had gotten into any trouble off the field. And apart from the rare lawsuit for, for example, promising to give away a car but failing to do so, Chad never had been arrested.
… in order to salvage any credibility with the women they hope will want to come to their games (and/or with the females who own a piece of the franchise, like Venus and Serena Williams, Gloria Estefan, and Fergie), the Dolphins need to sever ties with Johnson — if after conducting a swift and thorough investigation the team concludes that Johnson did indeed commit violence against the woman he married barely a month ago.
