Could This Be Dwayne Bowe’s Last Season in Kansas City?

The deadline for signing franchise tagged players came and went this past Monday without Kansas City Chiefs star wide out Dwayne Bowe agreeing to a long term deal with his team.  Could he be wearing new colors in 2013?  The Kansas City Star has the latest.

And while Bowe tries, and often tries too hard, he comes across as unreliable, difficult to read and consumed by ego. Bowe is good, but he’s not elite. Too many drops. Flawed route-running. Having no idea how his words sometimes make him sound. He should’ve hoped for, but not expected, a monster payday, and now he’ll have to wait several months for another swing.

The Chiefs also could franchise Bowe again next offseason, but with contracts expiring for left tackle Branden Albert and defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey, they’ll need that flexibility in keeping one or both with the organization.

With so many young pieces with potential due for extensions, Bowe may be the odd man out.  The Chiefs selected Jon Baldwin in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, so they may feel as if they have a suitable in-house replacement in the event Bowe is allowed to walk.  This is definitely a situation worth keeping an eye on through out the 2012 season.
