Forte, Bears Agree to Long-Term Contract

Who said the running back position was devauled? Oh yeah – that would be me.

Obviously the Bears didn’t share that opinion.  Today, just before the deadline on locking up franchise tagged players to long term deals, Matt Forte and the Bears came to an agreement on a 4 year, roughly $32 million contract with $18 million in guarantees.

You shouldn’t overlook just how important this signing was for the Bears and Forte.  After a year long back and forth over just how valuable he was to the team, Forte and the Bears can now shift their focus toward making their mark on the 2012 season.  Expectations are high here in Chicago for our Bears.  Locking down Forte eliminates a potential distraction on our road toward a return to the Super Bowl.
