“Ask yourself which player on the Baltimore Ravens’ roster do you hold in the highest regard? Ray Lewis? Ed Reed?Terrell Suggs, the 2011 defensive player of the year? Ray Rice?”
Chances are, you didn’t name the guy in the picture from above.
NFL Network continued their reveal of The Top 100 Players of the 2011 Season (as voted on by the players) last night, showcasing the players who came in ranked 11-20.
Haloti Ngata was not one of them. Which means he’ll crack the top 10, placing him at a higher rank than fellow Ravens Ray Rice (22), Ray Lewis (20), Ed Reed (16), and Terrell Suggs (11). Ngata is not a household name, but he should be. He’s probably the most vital member of the Ravens vaunted defense. His dominating play on the defensive line allows Baltimore to play the smothering style of defense they are well known for. Without Ngata’s presence, Suggs, Lewis, and Reed would not be able to do the things that have made them Pro Bowlers over the last few seasons.
His fellow players seem to see it the same way.
