The New Orleans Saints Bounty Hearings

Suspended New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma arrives for player hearing related to the Bounty Scandal on Monday, June 18th.

New Orleans Saints players and their lawyers convened at NFL headquarters in New York this morning for hearings related to the allegations stemming from the Bounty Scandal.  Of the 50,000 pages of evidence purportedly in the league’s possession, only 200 pages worth were made available for today’s hearing.  A CBS reporter was able to obtain a copy and snap this photo:

While the documents did not contain a “smoking gun”, it provided more than enough evidence to cast doubts on the Saints players’ claims of innocence.  Jeff Duncan, columnist for The Times-Picayune (based in New Orleans) tweeted out some of the major details:

Even with the evidence provided, those embroiled in the scandal still saw it fit to publicly rip the NFL for their portrayal of the Saints players:

During a pause in proceedings, the NFL presented a group of reporters with even more evidence in support of their allegations against the Saints:

So, yeah … all that evidence that the Saints have been begging to see?  They could get a pretty good view of it simply by accessing their own records.  W&L will have more on this once more reports trickle out …
