Junior Seau Becomes the Third Former NFL Player to Commit Suicide In the Last 15 Months – Dave Duerson on February 17, 2011 . Ray Easterling this past April 19th. Junior Seau today. I do not feel qualified to speak at length on what seems to be becoming an epidemic among former NFL players. All that I feel comfortable saying is that the NFL needs to do whatever it takes to help save the lives of the men who risk their livelihood to make the League the force it has become today. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a real thing. It should not be ignored until after the symptoms have become too much to bear. This illness needs to met head on with preventative measures that could help alleviate the stress experienced by those who can no longer participate in the game they spent their childhood dreaming of playing. It should not take a call from Congress for the NFL to wake up. The League has the means to fully take on this issue. It’s past time for them to act on it.
